Too many systems are built to keep you dependent.
Yours shouldn't be.

Your system should be yours — documented, understood, and in your control. LightCraft builds complex software end-to-end with clear checkpoints, so you always know what's happening. Pause anytime.

Services

Technical judgment for people building real businesses.

LightCraft takes on complex software systems that need senior judgment, durable architecture, and steady execution.

Architecture & Codebase Rescue

You need clarity before you need more code. I assess what exists, surface hidden risk, and put the system on solid footing. That can mean fresh architecture for a new product, or untangling an inherited codebase so it can be extended without guesswork.

Ongoing Development

For systems that need steady progress, I act as a senior technical partner who can ship without constant supervision. AI-accelerated workflows increase output, but the work is still gated by architectural discipline, production standards, and senior judgment.

Delivery Systems & Automation

Small teams should not lose weeks to manual releases, brittle environments, or unclear handoffs. I build the delivery systems that keep work moving: CI/CD, release automation, and the checks that let a team ship with confidence.

Industrial & Operational Systems

If your software touches machines, protocols, alarms, or live operational processes, I am a strong fit. I build systems for environments where state, edge cases, and downtime matter — where "mostly works" is not good enough.

Work

Work delivered under real constraints.

A few examples of systems work delivered where architecture, runtime behavior, and implementation details all had to hold up in the real world.

Semiconductor Automation

SEMI E84 (automated carrier handoff) Integration for a Lights-Out Fab

A mature automation system needed SEMI E84 support without degrading runtime performance or introducing faults in a lights-out environment with a 1,000-hour MTBI target. I designed the system boundaries end-to-end: a new C#/.NET service, the TCP/IP communication protocol, the integration points into the legacy C++/MFC stack, and the controls interface to the machine. I completed the design, proved the implementation through extensive simulation and test infrastructure, and validated each boundary independently so the system could be trusted in production.

Mobile GIS / .NET MAUI

Codebase Rescue for a Fast-Moving Product

A .NET MAUI mobile app with ArcGIS integration was accumulating bugs and architectural drag just as delivery pressure was increasing. I identified the architectural decisions that were causing the mobile app to lag behind backend-driven changes, then surgically corrected them so bugs surfaced earlier and the app could keep pace. I also introduced reusable implementation patterns that gave the team a consistent way to build new features without re-solving the same problems.

CI/CD / Workflow Automation

Delivery Systems That Removed Manual Friction

I have repeatedly been the engineer who turns fragile release workflows into repeatable systems. That includes feature flags, version automation, build pipelines, TestFlight delivery automation, and build modernization across mobile and industrial software. The result is not just faster shipping, but a system that is safer to change and easier for a team to operate.

Healthcare / Desktop Modernization

Access-to-WinForms Migration with Client Ownership in Mind

A medical practice management system built in VBA and MS Access needed a migration path that reduced dependence on Access while staying easy for the client to own. I designed the WinForms foundation, navigation model, and Advantage SQL service layer, then implemented core features to prove the architecture. Because both Access and Advantage SQL had non-standard behavior, query migration required careful, performance-aware redesign. I also introduced asynchronous I/O so the new desktop app improved on the old system by staying responsive during long-running operations.

Recreational Vehicles / Xamarin

BLE-Driven Mobile UI on Constrained Hardware

On a Xamarin app for recreational vehicles, I worked between BLE-connected IoT devices and the mobile UI that controlled them. I authored a suite of custom UI widgets and layouts, with a strong focus on responsive rendering on low-performance Raspberry Pi hardware running AOSP. I also resolved critical multithreading issues in the auto-setup feature that leveled the RV and coordinated slide and awning deployment.

About

How I work, and why it matters.

Most developers optimize for their own comfort. They pick the technology they already know, gold-plate things that don't need it, and go quiet when things get hard. I've been in this industry 14 years and I've seen what that costs a business owner who trusted someone.

You're running a business. My job is to be the technical side you can depend on. Regular updates. Honest timelines. No surprises in production. If something is going wrong, you hear about it from me first.

Every engagement starts with written scoping and ends with clear documentation and handoff, so you can work with anyone, make decisions confidently, and never need me to explain your own software. You own everything I build.

  • 14+ years across mobile, desktop, industrial, and consumer software
  • Deep Microsoft .NET ecosystem — MAUI, Xamarin, WPF, Avalonia, WinForms, Win32, C++/CLI
  • AI-accelerated delivery, grounded in senior judgment

How It Works

What working with LightCraft looks like.

Start with a 20-minute call. I ask about the project, the constraints, and where things stand now. After the call, I send a quote and recommend the right engagement model: retainer or one-off, based on the work in front of us.

The retainer model is not for everyone. But if you have had a good working relationship with a trusted professional like a CPA, lawyer, or doctor who actually knows your chart, you already know what it feels like to have someone in your corner who shows up. That is the kind of technical partnership I offer.

  • Month-to-month retainer when ongoing technical leverage makes sense
  • Clear scope before work starts
  • Weekly checkpoints and straightforward handoff
  • Pause anytime
